It’s good practice not to include internal traffic in your analytics reporting. The standard way to exclude traffic in Google Analytics is through IP address-based exclude filters.
This works fine for static IP address ranges, but what about if you want to exclude a computer whose IP address range changes (e.g. someone who’s working from home)?
The default method that Google provides is based on setting up a special page on your domain.
I’ve always found this to be kind of a hassle and depending on your setup, it also might be difficult to implement.
Fortunately, on the Analytics Talk blog they’ve come up with another way to do this which replaces the special web page with a snippet of code that you paste into your address bar.
Very handy!
