I’m always fascinated by the creative approaches web designers take to seemingly straightforward UI elements such as breadcrumbs and search boxes. Recently I needed to provide some feedback for a page design that involved pagination, and so I set out across the web in search of examples.
As a result, I came up with my own pagination design showcase. Looking through the different designs, a pretty strong design convention is quickly evident. Here’s a typical example:
However, the examples also show that there are still plenty of ways for designers to add their own creative touch to this UI component, without violating pagination usability best practices.
